NIC Code

A NIC code, National Industrial Classification code is 5-digit number used to classify different business activities in India. Created by Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), it helps government collect and organize data on how business contributes to national economy; it also makes it easier to create policies, process business registrations and compliance. The latest version of NIC code called NIC 2008 is used when businesses apply for Udyam Registration under MSMEs.

NIC Code for MSME/ Udyog Aadhar Registration

When businesses apply for Udyam registration to be officially recognized as micro, small, and medium enterprises under MSME Act, adding correct NIC (National Industrial Classification) code is mandatory. Earlier, MSME registration was known as Udyog Aadhar registration, which is provided to micro, small, and medium-sized businesses under Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Act, 2006 (MSMED).
